The MN Goldstar Families Memorial Monument was dedicated on June 25, 2022 in Mantorville, MN. With many Goldstar families and community members in attendance on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, we were finally able to dedicate this beautiful monument. We wanted to bring awareness to the families sacrifices when our loved ones have died serving their country. For every veteran serving, there is a family who serves alongside them.

Our journey began April 2, 2010 when our son, Curtis, was killed by a roadside bomb in Helmand Province, Afghanistan while serving with the 1st Battalion 3rd Marines. The 5 words, “we regret to inform you” have since taken us on a journey that has changed our lives.

The CPL Curtis Swenson Memorial Fund partnered with Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation to bring the first monument of its kind to Minnesota. None of this would have been possible without the support of our veteran and community members. Our committee worked very hard to make this a reality, so a special thank you to Dave and Kay Swenson, Scott and Monica Eggert, Emily Woslager, Rod Peterson, Tim Horvei, and Theresa Czplewski.
